The names of the Alfred State students who showed quick thinking and alerted 911 when they heard the man’s cries for help and saw that he and his dog were in distress in the nearly frozen Genesee River are David Snyder, Kameron Mills, Jack Derby, Owen Brewster, and Alex Tanerski. A college official said more information will be provided next week. The victim was flown to Rochester while the dog was rushed to the Wellsville Veterinary Hospital.
