Wellsville - Between 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesday, two mini wind bursts impacted the Wellsville area and Allegany County generally. Trash cans were sent flying a block or two and village streets in Wellsville were littered with twigs and branches. Power lines were also brought down. According to the National Weather Service, the Wellsville Airport clocked several 40 mph wind gusts, with the highest of 49 mph recorded at 10:56 a.m. Strong winds were also recorded during a Monday evening strong thunderstorm.
At 3 p.m., NYSEG reported 483 customers in Grove without power. R G & E reports close to 400 customers without power in northern Allegany County. National Grid, as of 3 p.m., reported power outages in the towns of Wellsville and Alma.
