Obituary: Randi Ann Crane of Mt. Morris, 89, Allegany County area

Mt. Morris --- Randi Ann Crane of Mt. Morris, 89, died peacefully and went to her heavenly home on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Noyes Memorial Hospital, Dansville. She was born on March 5, 1936, in Nunda, the daughter of the late Paul G. and Elizabeth B. Johnston Crane, her loving parents. Her younger brother, “Bill” Paul R. Crane aided them in caring for his sister.

During her childhood she suffered a very high fever that changed the course of her life. While she lived a sheltered and protected life at home, she learned to love animals on her family’s farms in Brooks Grove, Nunda, and Rossburg. Among her many animal friends, one of her favorites was a horse she loved to ride and pet, as her brother “Bill” led her around.

In 1967, after over 30 years of devoted care and sacrifice, she transitioned to an assisted living environment in Buffalo, and eventually was moved closer to her parents, to her final home, the Bellamy House, in Mt. Morris, where she received excellent care for over 35 years. While there she participated in a day treatment program in Geneseo, made friends with fellow residents, enjoyed the sweet care of staff, and special treats like ice cream or a can of pop.

Randi had a hearty laugh, enjoyed looking at the glossy pictures of magazines, bird watching, helping other residents in her own way, and taking in the views from her window. Her family is grateful for Randi’s exceptional care, which was gracious and personalized, all these many years.

Randi is survived by her sister-in-law, Nancy (Jim Totsline) Crane, of Houghton; two nieces, Billie (Brent) Bedford of Ephrata, WA; Tammy Newville of E. Rochester and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her beloved brother, Paul R. “Bill” Crane on April 12, 1993.

Family and friends may gather for viewing from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm on Friday, May 9, 2025, at the Garwoods United Methodist Church, 10524 Co Rd 15B, Canaseraga where the funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm. Pastor Greg White will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Houghton.
