Obituary: Gerald F. “Gary” Halsey, 67, of Wellsville

Gerald F. “Gary” Halsey, 67, of Wellsville, NY, died Saturday, December 12, 2020 in his home.   Born December 19, 1952, in Wellsville, he was the son of Francis L. “Buck” and Susie B. Horton Halsey.  Gary attended Wellsville High School and joined the US Navy in 1970.  He was a self-taught carpenter and electrician.  Gary was a member of Morrison B. Hayes American Legion Post #702 in Wellsville and enjoyed hunting.  

Surviving are:  a son, Gary Halsey of Wellsville;  a daughter, Mindy Halsey of Friendship;  seven grandchildren, Gabriel Halsey, Cameron Halsey, Alexis Halsey, Neveah Halsey, Ryan Erskine, Eli Barber, and Isaac Barber;  two sisters, Barbara Ingalls of Wellsville and Deborah (Walt) Mackney of Andover;  two nieces, Jody (Mike) Vannatter and Amanda Mackney Thompson;  a nephew, Corwin Mackney;  an uncle, Lawrence (Grace) Horton of Wellsville;  and many cousins.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Mary Elizabeth Halsey;  and two nephews, Kevin M. Ingalls and Steven R. Ingalls. 

A private service will be held at Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home, Wellsville.  Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellsville.  Memorials may be made to Allegany County Cancer Services, Attn: Lori Ballengee, 100 South Highland Ave., Wellsville, NY 14895.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.wellsvillefuneralhome.com.
