In progress - Allegany County United Way annual campaign

Allegany County United Way is in the midst of their annual campaign season. ACUW’s annual campaign is a crucial part of the work that they do as 100% of the money raised helps to support local human service programs. “Hundreds of Allegany County families rely on these programs to maintain a reasonable quality of life. Programs that ACUW funds help to feed the hungry, find jobs for the unemployed, keep our kids safe, help our elderly population stay independent, and so much more.” stated Director Amanda Joyce-Phelps. “Fundraising is at the heart of what we do, but we are so much more than that. We are also here to listen, to get out into community and listen to the concerns of community members and our nonprofit partners. We use every resource available to us to help determine where the greatest needs are so that can be sure that your donations have the greatest possible impact.”

Allegany County United Way launched its first campaign in 1960, and continues the tradition today. The organization is governed by a board of volunteers, who have a vested interest in Allegany County.

2020 has been a very challenging year for us all, making the need for these programs that much greater. Many individuals and families that may have already been facing hardship, are now facing additional distress due to the COVID-19 crisis.” stated Joyce-Phelps.

She continued “At Allegany County United Way, we know that one person can make a difference. We wholeheartedly believe that the easiest and most effective way to invest in our community, and reach those who need it most, is by investing in Allegany County United Way. As we continue to fight for the basic needs, health, education and financial stability of every person in our community, we ask that you join us. Please, consider supporting the Allegany County United Way 2021 Campaign, and encourage your friends, neighbors and coworkers to do the same.”
