Central NY schools placed on lock down

Today, Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019,  Calvin Coolidge Elementary School and East Middle School were put under lockout for approximately 45 minutes. A lockout is when nobody is permitted to enter or leave the building. This lockout was under the direction of the Binghamton Police Department, who was in pursuit of a suspect involved in an attempted armed robbery on Robinson Street.  The lockout was lifted once we were advised to do so by the Binghamton Police.  Parents at these two schools were notified through an automated call about the lockout and the district was in communications with the Broome County Communications center during the lockout. The safety and security of our students is our top priority and we are grateful for the Binghamton Police Department who worked together with the district to make sure our students are safe.
