Students can apply for CRCF scholarships beginning February 1

OLEAN, N.Y., January 22, 2019 — Area students can begin applying for scholarships managed by the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation on February 1.
Students can apply using the online scholarship portal at cattfoundation.org/scholarships. Filling out one common application allows students to apply for awards from some 60 scholarship funds.
In 2018, more than 80 students together received over $170,000 in scholarship awards— a new record total and an increase of over $20,000 in scholarship funding.
“Again we saw significant growth in our scholarship program last year,” said CRCF Executive Director Karen Niemic Buchheit. “And since last year, donors have established nine new scholarship funds at the Foundation that will be available to area students for the first time.”
“We believe that education is one of the keys to our community’s future and vitality, and so do the donors who establish scholarships here,” she added. “We proud to accept and review applications from so many talented high school students on behalf of the donors and organizations for which we manage scholarships.”
Scholarships are available to students throughout the region (including, depending on the criteria of each fund, Cattaraugus, Allegany, Chautauqua and McKean (PA) counties) for a multitude of interests and career/educational goals.
Awards are available to students at specific high schools, students with different majors, students with different career goals and more.
Regardless of interests or career paths, students pursuing higher education are likely to find a CRCF-managed scholarship that can help them reach their goals, said Buchheit.
Applicants will apply entirely online and submit supporting documentation such as transcripts and recommendation letters using the online portal as well.
Applications must be completed and submitted by April 2.
Students and parents may contact CRCF Manager of Donor Services Ryan Michelle Wilcox with any questions about the application process at 716-301-2723 or ryanmichelle@cattfoundation.org.
Anyone interested in establishing a new scholarship fund may contact the foundation for more information.
