Diane E. Sheldon, Beloved Wife, Mother, and Grandmother
Diane E. Sheldon, 75, of 6946 Rawson Road, Lyndon, passed
away Monday, January 21, 2019 at home after a lengthy illness.
Born on February 8, 1943, in Geneva, New York, she was a
daughter of Lawrence and Pearl Grove Arnold.
On June 25, 1961 she married Bruce C. Sheldon who survives.
Diane graduated from Geneva High School. While her children were young she was a stay
at home mom raising her family and later worked as a Home Health Aide, for
H&R Block, and later for Power Lawnmower parts in the shipping department
and last for CooperVision Contacts in the shipping department prior to her
retirement.
She was a faithful member of the Cuba First Baptist Church
where she was a member of the American Baptist Women, was instrumental in
starting the Prayer Shawl Ministries and was involved with the Tech Center’s
video, sound, and projection equipment helping to broadcast church
functions. She also enjoyed beautifying
the church landscaping always lending a helping hand when needed.
Diane enjoyed hunting deer with her husband who taught her
how to track and field dress her own deer.
She was especially proud of the 12 point buck she harvested one
year. Diane was a phenomenal cook,
enjoyed sewing and crafts, learning and excelling in her computer knowledge and
landscaping her country home. She was
always dressed for the occasion with beautiful clothes and jewelry that
exemplified her beauty.
Surviving in addition to her husband Bruce are her children,
Sherry (Joseph) Sheldon-Janssen of Cape
May, NJ, Gary (Jonah) Sheldon of Lyndon, John Sheldon of Hinsdale; 9
Grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, two sisters, Jane (Finn) Donaldson of Rochester
and Evelyn Conant of North Chili. In addition to her parents she was
predeceased by a brother Lawrence Arnold and a sister Carol Rouse. Friends will
be received at the Cuba First Baptist Church, 17 South Street, Cuba, on
Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 10-11:00 a.m. at which time a Memorial Service
will be held. The Rev. Lynn Sullivan,
will officiate. In lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to the Cuba First
