The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation
from the Bath barracks, in conjunction with Steuben County Child Protection
Services announce the arrest of a Canisteo man regarding a report of possible
child abuse. State Police arrested
Michael McMindes, age 36, of Taylor Street in Canisteo, and charged him with
one count of Sexual Abuse 1st Degree (a class “D” felony) and Endangering the
Welfare of a Child (a class “A” misdemeanor).
Investigators allege that, between January 1st and February 9th of this
year, McMindes intentionally subjected a child less than 11 years old to sexual
contact while at a residence in the Village of Canisteo. McMindes was arraigned in the Town of Bath
before Town Justice Chauncey Watches and remanded to the Steuben County Jail in
lieu of bail. Court actions are
ongoing.
