I am a lifelong Allegany County resident and I have known
Walt Mackney since 7th grade. I know that he has spent most of his adult life
as a police officer and a State Trooper. I know that he has fought to get the
drugs off our streets and the drug dealers out of our neighborhood. I know that
he is an NRA member and instructor and teaches a lot of civilian and law
enforcement firearms courses. I know that he is dead set against the SAFE act.
I know that even though he retired from the State Police, he continues to work
as a police officer and to provide important training to the public. That is
the definition of “community service”. I know that he wants to make our
communities and schools safer. I know that he is a family man and he is
respected in his community and by his police comrades. I know that he is
concerned about the jail and the men and women who work there. I know he wants
to make things better in Allegany County. I know that after all that he has
done and sacrificed that he does not deserve the personal attacks that I have
seen in the media.
I know all of these things about Walt Mackney and I know
that he has my vote and he should have yours.
