Former Bolivar Fire Dept. treasurer sentenced to probation after stealing from volunteers

The former treasurer of the Bolivar Volunteer Fire Department will spend five years on probation after pleading guilty to felony grand larceny. In Allegany County court today, 47-year-old Amy Olmstead of Bolivar was also told by Judge Thomas Brown to make $3,000 in restitution, pay a DNA fee and pay a surcharge of $325.
According to the District Attorney's Office, from March to September 2016, Olmstead stole fund raising money and stole money by forging checks totaling over $12,000. Olmstead was the department treasurer during the crimes.
Olmstead was originally charged with grand larceny, forgery and falsifying business records. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Tom Fuoco. Olmstead was represented by John Cappellini.
