The undersigned is writing to show support for Sheriff Rick
Whitney in his bid for re-election as Sheriff of Allegany County. As a member
of the Allegany County law enforcement community for over forty years, I had
several occasions to work with Sheriff Whitney. I can attest that Rick has
always been professional and cooperative while interacting with the Wellsville
Police Department and the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force of which I was
a member of at its inception. Rick has done a fine job directing the Sheriff’s
department, working within his budget and providing the services that the Board
of Legislators feels that the Sheriff should provide; all while dealing with
contractual agreements and State and Federal regulations.
Throughout the time I have known Rick, he has shown himself
to be a professional and consciences public servant never seeking the spot
light and conducting himself in a caring and compassionate way. Rick's only
concern has been to serve the people of Allegany County with the resources he
has at his disposal.
