Port Allegany man killed in shootout with Pennsylvania Trooper

A Port Allegany man is dead after a shootout with Pennsylvania State Police. 42-year-old Chad Setzer died in the exchange of gunfire. Troopers were attempting to serve an arrest warrant on Setzer at a home located at 6147 Route 155 near Port Allegany. Police had been looking for the man since an incident Sunday in Liberty Township when he allegedly threatened to kill a man and damaged a woman’s vehicle. McKean County District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer and Pennsylvania State Police Captain Bernard Petrovsky issued a joint statement last night saying initial reports indicate that state police were preparing to execute an arrest warrant at the location when the subject of the warrant and a member of the state police exchanged gunfire. No other injuries were reported. An autopsy is scheduled for today.

Pennsylvania State Police out of Punxsutawney and Detectives from the McKean County District Attorney’s Office are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Route 155 near Port Allegany on August 27, 2018.
Initial reports indicate that state police were preparing to execute an arrest warrant at the location when the subject of the warrant and a member of the state police exchanged gunfire.
The subject of the warrant is deceased. No other injuries were reported. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow. The public will be updated as information becomes known throughout the investigation.
