BATH – More than 80 members of the Steuben County Department of Public Works were recognized with certificates of appreciation Monday for their service to county residents. The workers were honored for milestone dates ranging from 10 years up to the 40-year anniversary of Building Maintenance Mechanic Steve Flaitz. The group represents more than 2,200 hours of combined service. Steuben Legislature Chairman Joe Hauryski, R-Campbell, county Public Works Committee Chairman Gary Swackhamer, R-Hornell, county Manager Jack Wheeler, county Clerk of the Legislature Brenda Mori, county Public Works Commissioner Vince Spagnoletti and county Public Works Deputy Commissioner Doug Rapalee were on hand to recognize the Public Works employees’ contributions. "The Public Works crews work to ensure the safety of county residents," Spagnoletti said. "They do a good job on our roads and bridges, landfill and parks. Our office and mobile people round out the department and they all represent the high-quality work force that this county produces. I am proud to work with them." The ceremony took place at the county Landfill, on Turnpike Road, in Bath.
