Obituary: Regina Oleksiak, Wellsville


Wellsville - Regina Oleksiak was born in Cheektowaga, NY to Stephen and Agnes (Rogacki) Kwiatkowski. She was baptized and was a devout member of St John Gualbert's Roman Catholic Church. She graduated from Immaculate Heart of Mary Academy in 1940 and went on to Bryant Business School graduating in 1942. Jean was a lifelong bookkeeper enjoying the certainty of numbers. When she passed away she was the office manager for Genesee Metal Products of Wellsville. In 1946 Jean married Richard F. Oleksiak and they eventually settled in Amherst, NY where they raised three children. Jean gave a great deal of her time to many local charities. They were able to travel extensively throughout the world and in doing so earned more than one Pan Am Circumnavigation award. Closer to home Jean was an avid and championship golfer at Brookfield Country Club. She was also a member of the golf courses in Bradford, PA and Wellsville, NY. Jean moved to Wellsville in 1973 and eventually to Olean NY. In 2015 she moved into Manor Hills after a bad fall. She continued to work until 94, remarkably, and was loved by the customers and vendors of Genesee Metal, Inc. Jean was predeceased by her ex-husband . She is survived by three children Richard (Alison) Oleksiak of Toronto, Michael Oleksiak of Wellsville and Jan Oleksiak (Gregory Clarke) of Mertztown, PA, and her sister Christine Lisiecki of Little River, SC. There are five grandchildren and two great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the entire staff of Manor Hills and Wellsville Manor for their exceptional care and kindness to our mother during her stay.
