SYRACUSE (WSYR-TV) - Colin Hayward Toland, the youngest member of the Ithaca Police Department, passed away peacefully Saturday.
Since the age of two, Colin had been battling brain cancer, but the Ithaca community made sure it didn’t stop him from realizing his life long dream of being a police officer.
Back in September, at the age of 9, he was sworn in as Officer Colin Hayward Toland.
Ithaca Police Chief John Barber said, “Colin is by far the strongest 9-year old I've ever met. I think Colin has exactly what it takes to be an officer. He possesses courage, bravery, compassion and tenacity."
