Mitrano Takes First Place in Elmira Congressional Candidate Debate

Penn Yan - Continuing her winning streak, Democratic Congressional front-runner Tracy Mitrano of NY-23 took first place in last week’s candidate debate in Elmira hosted by Chemung and Steuben County Democratic committees. Attendees were asked to rank the candidates from 1-5 on the following five categories: reflects my values, clarity of message/persuasive, knowledge of issue, ability to govern, and electability. Mitrano took first place in each category. 
The win in Elmira adds to the growing list of Mitrano’s recent successes, including her wins by wide margins in all four straw polls held across the District this year (one District-wide, one in Geneva, and two in Tompkins County) and endorsements from: 
  • The Women’s Equality Party
  • The Working Families Party
  • Watkins Glen Mayor Sam Schimizzi
  • Ithaca Mayor Svante Myrick
  • Jamestown City Councilwoman Vanessa Weinert
  • Tioga County Democratic Committee Chair Diane Lechner
