New Yorkers Against Hidden Predators slam Sen. Cathy Young, others

Members of New Yorkers Against Hidden Predators say they plan to fight state senators over the Child Victims Act…and they have senator Cathy Young on their radar. The organization says New York currently has the most restrictive statute of limitations for most child sexual abuse crimes of any state in the country. Most victims are barred from filing criminal and civil claims once they turn 23 years old. The Child Victims Act expands the criminal and civil statutes of limitations for child sexual abuse cases and will create a 1-year “window" for previously unaddressed civil claims to be heard in court. The group says Young doesn’t support them. Kathryn Robb is a founding member of New Yorkers Against Hidden Predators…in a conference call today, she said this: “The Senate Republicans are all accomplices to a continuing cover-up of child rape. They are all protecting institutions over notions of justice and fair play and safety. Senator Young…we have just started – you are in our cross hairs." The group says it plans to make Young’s life difficult. Survivors and advocates will be sending letters to school districts, little leagues, and other youth organizations in all the senators’ home districts, alerting constituents to the fact their senator refuses to support the Child Victims Act.
