An investigation by Troopers and Investigators from the New
York State Police has resulted in both methamphetamine-related and stolen
property charges against a Jasper couple.
On March 24th, Troopers responded to a private residence on State Route
417 in the Town of Jasper in an attempt to execute an arrest warrant. Both occupants of the residence – Daniel R.
Gillespie, age 40, and Michelle L. Croft, age 35, were allegedly found to be in
possession of methamphetamine. State
Police Senior Investigator Curt Eaton said a further investigation resulted in
the issuance of a search warrant for the premises, and the New York State
Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team (C.C.S.E.R.T.)
responded and conducted remediation efforts.
In addition to methamphetamine, items seized included reagents, solvents,
catalysts, and lab equipment, all used in the manufacture of
methamphetamine. In addition, a large
quantity of alleged stolen property was recovered, including but not limited to
an all-terrain vehicle, a vehicle tow-dolly, a dirt bike (motorcycle), construction
equipment and building materials, all taken from various locations.
Gillespie was charged with Unlawful Manufacture of
Methamphetamine, 3rd degree (class “D” Felony); Crim. Possession of Stolen
Property, 4th degree (class “E” felony); Criminal Possession of Stolen
Property, 5th degree (class “A” misdemeanor); and Criminal Possession of a
Controlled Substance, 7th degree (class “A” misdemeanor). He was arraigned in the town of Bath Court
and remanded to jail in lieu of $50,000.00 cash bail/$100,000 property
bond.
Croft was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen
Property, 4th degree (class “E” felony); Criminal Possession of Stolen
Property, 5th degree (class “A” misdemeanor); and Criminal Possession of a
Controlled Substance, 7th degree (class “A” misdemeanor). She was also arraigned in the town of Bath
Court and released on her own recognizance.
