Wellsville and Olean radio stations share format and more

The corporate owners of radio station's in Wellsville and Olean have decided to merge the signals. WZKZ, a country music formatted station licensed to Alfred/Wellsville (FM 101.9) is now simulcasting its format with WOEN (AM 1360) in Olean. The Olean AM signal also has an FM translator at 96.3 FM...an effort to increase the audience. Listeners have told WRN they have notice a change in programming. Some are happy, others have concerns. The radio station serving primarily Allegany County is now branded as "101.9 The Ride." The music remains similar to the earlier days...the local news and weather are now considerably more brief. The stations are owned by Sound Communications, based in the Elmira/Corning area...they own numerous radio stations.
