Troopers charge woman with felony drug crime and more during traffic stop on I-390


Bath-based state police announce the highway interdiction arrest of Nancy Lopez, 34, of Rochester. She was arrested following a traffic stop and subsequent investigation on Interstate 390 in the town of Avoca, N.Y. It is alleged that troopers observed Lopez speeding on Interstate 390.  A traffic stop was conducted at which time police said they allegedly located a quantity of crack cocaine and marijuana.  During the interview, Troopers said Lopez made a number of false statements in an effort to conceal her crimes.  These statements included the possible ingestion and disposal of illegal narcotics, which led to additional charges being filed.  She was secured and transported to Arnot Ogden Memorial Hospital as a precaution. Upon her release form the hospital, she was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (B felony), two counts of Tampering with Physical Evidence (E felony), two counts of Falsifying Business Records (E felony) and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana (violation). She was arraigned in the town of Bath Court and remanded to the county jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail $100,000 property bond.
