Orval A. Rossman, 98, of Wellsville, NY, died Tuesday, March
13, 2018 in his home. Born February 10,
1920, in the Town of Ward, he was the son of George and Jennie Bush
Rossman. On April 4, 1943, in
Wellsville, he married the former Ruth Saunders, who survives. A World War II Veteran, he served honorably
with the US Army. He was employed by the
US Atomic Energy Commission in Nevada and later by Air Preheater in Wellsville
for 32 years. He was also a
self-employed farmer and carpenter.
Orval was a gifted artist, musician, and poet. He was a member of the Christian Temple, now
Grace United Church in Wellsville, Morrison B. Hayes American Legion Post #702
in Wellsville, and a 50-year member of the Wellsville Masonic Lodge. Surviving besides his wife of seventy-five
years, Ruth, are: three sons, G. David
(Josefa “Pepa”) Rossman of Duncan, SC, Danny (Denise) Rossman of Arkport, and
Gary Rossman of Hilton, NY; five
grandchildren, Paul (Barbara Bernard) Rossman, Michael (Corey Scheidegger)
Rossman, Eric (Christine) Rossman, Leslie (Rev. Mark) Ball, and Matthew (Jo)
Rossman; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Gregg Rossman on
July 5, 1980; and three sisters, Gladys
Johnson, Theda Wightman, and Lila Beagle.
Friends may call Friday, March 16, 2018 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00
p.m. at the Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home, Wellsville, NY, where Funeral
Services will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. David Potts and the Rev. Mark Ball
will co-officiate. Burial will be in
Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellsville. Military
Rites will be accorded in the funeral home by members of the Wellsville
American Legion. Memorials may be made
to Grace United Church, the Genesee Valley Chorus, or a charity of the donor’s
