Obituary: Faye C. Terwilliger, 92, Cuba

Faye C. Terwilliger Fitzgerald  Loving Mother, grandmother, great grandmother

Faye C. Terwilliger, 92, of 5442 Rte. 305, Cuba, passed away Monday, March 5, 2018 at Cuba Memorial Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit surrounded by family after a brief illness. Born on December 22, 1925, in Coneville, PA she was a daughter of Orion and Maude Durs Calhoun.  On February 28, 1942, in Black Creek she married Ronald Terwilliger who predeceased her on May 7, 1986.  She then married Walter C. Fitzgerald on June 15, 1991 at Christ Episcopal Church in Cuba.  Mr. Fitzgerald predeceased her on May 11, 2004. She was a graduate of Cuba Central School. For many years she was a Payroll Clerk at Acme Electric of Cuba, retiring in 1988. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cuba, a 50 plus year member of the Cuba American Legion Post 655 Auxiliary, a 48 year member of the Cuba VFW Post 2721 Auxiliary, and a Charter member of the Shawn M. Clemens Memorial Am Vets Post 1 of Cuba.  She was also a member of the Cuba Rod and Gun Club, a life member of the National Rifle Association, and the Cuba Senior Citizens. Faye enjoyed gardening, traveling, knitting, a good party, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  For many years she was a den mother for the West Clarksville Boy Scouts, was active in the Richburg Central School PTA, and when her children were younger she was involved with their activities. She is survived by a son, Gerald (Anna) Terwilliger of Basalt, CO; 2 daughters, Bonita (Thomas Hinchey) Terwilliger of Black Creek and Patricia (Craig) Clark of Wappingers Falls, NY; Her Grandchildren Jocelyn, Miranda, Amie, Stephanie, Courtnie, Derreck, Kelli, William, Thomas, Susan, and Eric; 22 great grandchildren, 5 Great Great Grandchildren; A Step daughter, Barbara Strawbridge of Cuba; A Step Son, Stephen Morris of Simmerville, SC; A sister, Verdie I. Jarvis of Waterloo; Several Nieces and Nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was predeceased by a daughter Pamela Schweizer in 1998, two grandchildren David Schweizer and Lezlie Simmons Clements, a brother, Orlando Calhoun, two sisters Pearl Dora Congdon and Arvella Tardelli, and three stepsons Michael Fitzgerald, Cassius Fitzgerald, and Michael Morris.
The family will receive friends at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, 9 Bull Street, Cuba, on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. where funeral services will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.  The Rev. Lynn Sullivan, pastor of First Baptist Church of Cuba, will officiate. Burial will be in Black Creek Cemetery, Town of New Hudson, New York.
