Maxine H. Saunders, 97, formerly of Scio, NY, passed away
peacefully on Sunday, November 5, 2017 in Wellsville Manor Care Center, where
she resided for the past nine years.
Born December 15, 1919, in Farmersville, NY, she was the daughter of Ren
and Rebea Stowell Hunt. On September 9,
1939, in Franklinville, she married Victor L. Saunders of Caneadea, who
predeceased her on June 6, 1988. For
over 50 years, they resided in Scio where they raised their three
children. Maxine was employed by the
Scio Central School as the cafeteria manager during the 1970’s and 1980’s. She was a loving mother, grandmother,
great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.
She was an avid book reader, enjoyed sewing, knitting, and especially
traveling. Surviving are: a brother, William N. Hunt of
Franklinville; a son, Douglas D. Saunders
of Santa Rosa, CA; a daughter, Nancy S.
(Kevin) Kailbourne of Wellsville; five
grandchildren; five
great-grandchildren; four
great-great-grandchildren; nieces and
nephews. In addition to her husband, she
was predeceased by a sister, Marguerite Kerr; a daughter, Narda S. Saunders in
2000; and a granddaughter, Amy Busby in
2010. A Memorial Service will be held in
May of 2018 and will be announced by Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home, Wellsville,
NY. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery,
Scio. Memorials may be made to the David
