Born in Hornell on
May 6, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Florence (Holt)
Zeliff. On Aug. 9, 1947, she was married in Hornell to Jack Flaitz, who
predeceased her on Feb. 17, 1975, after 28 years of marriage. Besides her
parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her two sons, Gary Flaitz and
Jack Flaitz and her two brothers, Roger Zeliff and Richard Zeliff.
A lifelong resident
of Hornell, Dorothy was a graduate of Hornell High School, class of 1944, and
at one time was a member of the former Westminster Presbyterian Church in
Hornell. She was a homemaker who devoted her life to her family. In 1988 at the
age of 63 she began working part-time for the City of Hornell in the
Chamberlain’s office, retiring in 2000. Her loving family includes her daughter, Sue
Ann Kerber of Indiana; her two sons, Mark (Karen) Flaitz of Florida and Philip
(Carol) Flaitz of Newburgh, N.Y.; also, several grandchildren and
great-grandchildren; as well as her nieces and nephews.

family of Dorothy (Zeliff) Flaitz.
To honor her wishes
there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Private interment will be in
Rural Cemetery, Hornell at the convenience of the family. In lieu
of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to Hornell Area Humane
