HOUGHTON, NY - An evening of healing, redemption, reconciliation, and restoration awaits at Houghton College’s Christmas Prism 2017, “O Come, Desire of Nations.” Performances will take place on Friday, December 1 and Saturday, December 2 in Houghton at 8:00 p.m. Now in its 11th year, Christmas Prism has evolved to include more than 200 performers, drawing on the college’s rich musical tradition and taking audience members on a musical and visual journey. Vocal and instrumental ensembles – including Houghton College Choir, Men’s and Women’s Choirs, Houghton Symphony Orchestra, and Houghton A Cappella – celebrate the Christmas season through a blend of traditional carols, classically inspired pieces, and modern worship songs. Prism 2017 celebrates the anticipation and arrival of Jesus Christ, the Desire of Nations and redeemer of humanity.
“Prism 2017 will once again combine the very best musicians and the very best music making with the timeless and powerful message of the Love of God to humankind through the birth of our savior Jesus Christ,” remarks Dr. Armenio Suzano, dean and director at the Greatbatch School of Music. “With preparations well underway and musicians tuned and ready to perform, we anticipate a very special pair of evenings here at Houghton College.”
