Obituary: Milton Eugene Hubbard, 88, Rushford


Milton Eugene Hubbard, 88, of 9577 Hardy’s Corners Rd., Rushford, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at home. He was born March 15, 1929, in North Hornell, the son of Eugene L and Edith A. Swick Hubbard.  On June 27, 1953, he married the former Elizabeth “Betsy” McVey of Black Creek at the First Baptist Church in Cuba.  Milton was a graduate of Canaseraga Central School Class of 1947.  He enjoyed his farming career both in Canaseraga and on a farm near Rushford.  He retired from farming in 1993.  After his retirement he mowed for the Allegheny Hills Golf Course, some of the same land that he had farmed.
Milton was a 7th degree Grange Member.  He held most all of the offices in the Canaseraga and Allegany County Pomona Grange.  He had been on several committees for the State Grange.  He was a member of the Cuba First Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening where he grew lots of gladiolus that he loved to give to people. Surviving in addition to his wife of 64 years are 4 Sons, Thomas (Billie) Hubbard of Twenty Nine Palms California, David Hubbard of Roy, WA,  James (Julie) Hubbard of Bliss, Robert Hubbard of Fillmore; a daughter, Meredith Hubbard of Madison, NC; 8 Grandchildren, Christopher, Kenneth, Phillip, Jamie, Joshua, Katherine, Matthew, and Kailean; Seven Great Grandchildren; a sister,  Dorothy (Charles) Drum of Dansville; a sister in law, Ellen Hubbard of Hornell; Several Nieces, Nephews, and many cousins who he enjoyed getting together with once a year.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a sister Phyllis Neetz, a brother Carl Hubbard, and a nephew Michael Hubbard.
Friends will be received at the First Baptist Church of Cuba, 17 South Street, Cuba on Friday, July 14, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until Noon at which time funeral services will be held.  The Rev. Alexandra Freer and Rev. Dennis Stack, will co-officiate. 
Burial will be in White Cemetery, Rushford, New York.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Cuba or to the Rushford Volunteer Fire Department.
