The Allegany County Area Foundation Dollars for Scholars
Program is pleased to announce that Mikayla Rix has received a Student
Volunteer Award from Scholarship America Dollars for Scholars. Mikayla was
awarded a $1,000 scholarship for her postsecondary education and was chosen for
her dedication and service to her community, as well as strong academic
achievement at the Cuba-Rushford High School. Fifteen students from across the
country were chosen to receive this $1,000 scholarship based on volunteerism,
community service and academics.
During the past four years in high school, Mikayla has also
participated in many community service activities including: teaching Karate,
helping with St. Mary's Church Events, Cuba Little League Events, Cuba Youth
Football Events, Blue Devils Basketball, Single Tree Ranch, United Way Drives,
Cuba Rod & Gun Club Events, School Lock-Ins, Karen Landcastle Cancer
Corner, New Hudson Fire Department Events, Youth Court, CRCS Outdoors Fisheries
and Wildlife Events and Cub Scouts.

Area Foundation, stated, “Mikayla Rix plans to attend Hibert College in the
fall and is planning to pursue a degree in criminal justice. We wish her much success!”

Area Foundation Dollars for Scholars Program
The Allegany County Area Foundation Dollars for Scholars
Program recently awarded a total of $247,500 to 124 recipients from across
Allegany County. The recipients were
chosen through a blind selection process from a pool of 248 applicants
including both high school seniors and current college students. The online application process will open up
again on this November 1, 2017 for the 2018-2019 academic year at: https://alleganycountyareafoundation.dollarsforscholars.org.
