NYSDOT ANNOUNCES
PAVING OF STATE ROUTE 305, VILLAGE OF CUBA
ALLEGANY COUNTY
$100,000 in Maintenance Paving Improvements to be
Completed This Year
New
York State Department of Transportation Commissioner Matthew J. Driscoll Friday
announced that $100,000 in maintenance paving work will begin in July on State
Route 305 in the Village of Cuba, Allegany County, repairing the asphalt and
smoothing the driving service through the heart of this historic community.
“Maintenance is critical to keeping
roads and bridges safe in towns and villages across New York State,” Commissioner Driscoll said.
“Under Governor Cuomo’s leadership, this paving project and dozens of
others across the state are prolonging the life of our highways, enhancing
mobility, and supporting local commerce.”The project, which will be completed this summer, will extend along State Route 305 from State Route 446 (Water Street) south to the railroad trestle near the Village limits.
This segment of State Route 305 is
underlain with brick pavers, which are very susceptible to freeze-thaw damage.
To help address that, the Department has accelerated delivery of this
maintenance paving effort.
Consistent
with Governor Cuomo’s Driver’s First initiative, the project has been planned
to minimize impacts to traffic and the community. The timing of this project will avoid a local
community festival in June.Senator Catharine Young said, “Having a strong network of well-maintained roads and highways is an important part of our efforts to protect motorists as well as our local economy. This paving project on State Route 305 in the Village of Cuba will help our residents travel the community safely and efficiently and improve conditions for area businesses as well. I would like to commend the Governor and DOT officials for their actions on behalf of the Village of Cuba.”
