Obituary: June L. Luce, 82, Rushford


Rushford --- June L. Luce of 9123 E. Centerville Road died Saturday, February 18, 2017 in Olean General Hospital. She was born on June 18, 1934 in Springville, a daughter of the late Homer and Ether Ellis Smith. On October 24, 1953 in Bellville she married Stanley L. Luce who survives.
June was a graduate of Griffith Institute High School and was a former employee of Motorola in Arcade and the book keeper for Rushford Ready Mix for many years.
She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, reading, gardening and her grandchildren. June belonged to the Rushford Fire Department for many years including the rescue squad for 20 years and the helped with the junior firemen. June also belonged to the Rushford Historical Society, helped with the food pantry and was a cook for the Genesee Valley Tractor Club.
Surviving in addition to her husband are their children, Douglas (Lorraine Livergood) Luce of Pike, Philip Luce of Rushford, Dennis (Vicky) Luce of Rome, Diane (Steven) Warriner of Dundee, Jacqueline (Thomas) Borden of Caneadea, 17 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, four brothers and sisters, Alice (Duane) Luce of Caneadea, Joe Smith of California, Joan Bly of Sandusky, Bejean Morehouse of Hamburg and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a son, Durwin Luce, a daughter in law, Sue Luce, three brothers, Jim, Otis and Walter Smith and a sister, Mary Crosby.
Family and friends may gather from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N. Genesee Street, Fillmore. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Rushford Baptist Church. Pastor Jonathan Finley will officiate. Burial will be in Bellville Cemetery, Town of New Hudson.
