Obituary: Stewart B. Irvin Jr., 73, Wellsville native

New Hartford - Stewart B. Irvin Jr. 73 0f 9094 Red Hill Rd. and a former Bolivar resident passed away on Saturday February 18, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Utica following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on June 21, 1943 in Wellsville, he was the son of Stewart and Gertrude Atkins Irvin Sr. On June 6, 1964 he married Elaine Button, a blessed union of 52 years. Stew’s career was a director of Computing and Telecommunications at SUNY IT and SUNY Delhi.

He lived life to its fullest and had fun and happiness throughout his life. You could see him outdoors, in the woods, in the Adirondacks and with friends and members of the Mohawk Valley Motorcade Car Club at car shows winning many trophies. Some of his best times were with friends and his best friend Bud Harris at the car shows in Carlisle. His deepest passion was his family and to them he was their hero.

In addition to his wife Stew is survived by a daughter Christine Wagner, granddaughters Haley Marie and Hunter Rose of New Hartford, granddaughter Crystal Witter and greatgrandchildren Shane and Kara Witter Portville. One sister Jan (Bob) Haggerty of Olean. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Duane Curtis and his parents Stewart and Gertrude Irvin Sr.

Friends may call at the Schaffner Funeral Home Inc. Bolivar on Wednesday 1-4 p.m. Funeral services will follow visitation at 4 p.m. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery Bolivar.
