Steuben plans diabetes program

BATH – The start dates for the Steuben County Public Health Department’s National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP) programs have been pushed back a week in order to encourage public participation. The nationally developed programs offer healthy weight-loss solutions for people who are pre-diabetic or at risk for developing Type 2 diabetes. Participants in the program, run by a trained lifestyle coach, work toward a 7 percent weight loss, which in turn reduces the risk of diabetes by 60 percent. Classes are slated to begin: 6-7 p.m., Jan. 24 at the Hornell YMCA Noon – 1 p.m., Jan. 25 at the Dormann Library in Bath.

For more information on the program, fees, or to sign up, call (607) 664-2438.
