Canisteo men, Almond woman face drug charges in separate traffic stops



Highway Interdiction efforts by the New York State Police in the Canisteo area has resulted in multiple arrests for drug-related offenses.  In a concerted effort conducted on March 6th, 2018, Troopers from the Bath and North Hornell barracks arrested Marilyn G. Maddaford, 44, of 7005 Whitney Valley Rd., Almond, N.Y., for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, 3rd degree (class “B” Felony), Unlawful Possession of Marijuana (violation), as well as violations of the Vehicle and Traffic Law.  Senior State Police Investigator Curt Eaton tells Wellsville Regional News that during a traffic stop in the Town of Canisteo, Maddaford was allegedly found to be in possession of a quantity of Suboxone which was packaged for sale and a quantity of marijuana.  She was arraigned and released on her own recognizance. Maddaford is due back in court March 22, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.


In an unrelated incident on March 6th, 2018, Troopers initiated a traffic stop in the Village of Canisteo which resulted in charges against two subjects.  Travis J. Carlton, age 19, of 24 E. Main St., Canisteo, N.Y., was charged with Criminal Possession of Marijuana, 5th degree (class “B” misdemeanor) for allegedly possessing approximately 1.6 ounces of marihuana.  The 17-year-old operator of the vehicle was also charged with Criminal Possession of Marijuana, 5th degree, as well as Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and other Vehicle and Traffic law violations.  Both were issued appearance tickets returnable in the Village of Canisteo court at a later date.
