Steuben County Sheriff's Office Members Commended

Several members of the Steuben County Sheriff's Office were commended this morning at the Steuben County Legislature's Public Safety and Corrections Committee meeting for their swift actions and team work in the apprehension of a reportedly armed and dangerous individual earlier last month.

On June 6th, Steuben County Sheriff's Office was alerted by NYSP of the pursuit of a subject that had begun in Allegany County and was approaching the Steuben County line.
Sheriff Allard commended his Deputies for their professionalism, leadership, and service in the handling of the situation. Allard said, "Not only did you display quick and effective evaluation of a dynamic life and death situation, but you also successfully stopped a fleeing person accused of murdering three people, and utilizing your training and tools, took that armed person into custody with no injury to law enforcement and only minor injury to the suspect.
