Is Wellsville Airport considering expansion? Great question!
A casual observer must wonder what future plans are for the Wellsville Airport. There were some agenda items dealing with the airport when the Wellsville town board met Wednesday, but some were not addressed. The Board voted to conduct an environment assessment on land near the airport as part of a potential purchase. However, any discussion about what land might be acquired was scuttled. Town officials said they were not in a position to talk about that issue right now. It's all above board, officials just weren't in a position yet to elaborate. Town attorney Mike Finn was at the meeting and didn't raise a red flag.
In other action at the meeting:
- Timothy J. Dannhein was appointed the new town assessor effective October 1st. At the end of the year, he will likely be re-appointed to a new five year term. The town also said it was in the final stages of development of a new regional program. Dannheim, working through Wellsville, will become the Assessor for five others towns. Supervisor Alsworth said between an upcoming reval and the new regional approach, there will be "tremendous cost savings." He said the plan will deliver "better service at less money."
