Georgia man convicted of rape in Allegany County

A Georgia man, first charged with first-degree felony rape has pleaded guilty to a lesser crime in Allegany County court. The crime occurred May 21, 2017 in the town of Scio. In a press release, the DA's office said 43-year-old Jonathan Johnson of Acworth pleaded guilty in court to third-degree rape. He was sentenced by Judge Thomas Brown to six months in jail, ten years of the sex offender spotlight page and a ten year order of protection. He was also fined $1,000 and tagged with a $325 surcharge and a $50 DNS fee. A press release said he engaged in sexual intercourse with another person who was incapable of consent by reason of being physically helpless. J. Thomas Fuoco prosecuted the case and Assistant Public Defender Pat Fogerty represented  Johnson.
