Steuben County crash claims life of Pennsylvania woman
A single vehicle accident that occurred at about 10:18 p.m.
on Monday, September 3, 2018, claimed the life of a Pennsylvania woman. New York State Police were dispatched to County
Road 10 in the town of Cameron, after an occupant of the vehicle, Creo L.
Babcock, age 17, of Saurbier Rd., Cameron, N.Y., self-extricated from the
vehicle and walked to a nearby residence.
Senior Investigator Curt Eaton said a vehicle operated by Tessa L.
Updyke, age 19, of Kersey, Pa., was northbound on Ct. Rt. #10 and failed to
negotiate a bend in the roadway, exiting onto the west shoulder.The vehicle overturned multiple times and
came to rest in a ravine, ejecting the operator. Steuben County Coroner Dr. Robert Cole
responded to the scene, and ordered the body removed to Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton
for an autopsy. The Cameron Fire Dept.
and Ambulance Corps, as well the Bath Fire Dept. assisted at the scene. Investigation into the cause of the accident
is ongoing.
