The Allegany County Office for the Aging is pleased to announce a new 10-session health and wellness program for anyone who is 60 and over. The program is called the Aging Mastery Program, and it was developed by the National Council on Aging (NCOA).
The goal of this program is to empower older adults to make and maintain small but impactful changes. The classes will explore navigating longer lives, physical activity, sleep, healthy eating and hydration, financial fitness, medication management, advanced planning, health relationships, falls prevention, and community engagement. For each of these classes, you will receive basic educational materials developed from highly trusted sources, a checklist of potential next steps, and a system for tracking behaviors.
This is a wonderful opportunity for older adults to participate in, and reap the benefits of, this cutting edge wellness program. We are currently recruiting 20 adults to participate in this 10-session educational program.
Participants who complete all 10 sessions will receive a $25 gift card.
A free lunch will be offered at 12:00 noon.
The Aging Mastery Program will be offered from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Wednesdays and Fridays, beginning Wednesday, October 10, 2018 and will run for 5 weeks with a Graduation Ceremony on Wednesday, November 14. The classes will take place at the Wellsville Luncheon Center at the Grace United Church, 289 N. Main Street, in Wellsville.
This class is open to anyone 60 years or older. Class registration is limited. Please call 585-268-9390 to register.
