State police now say an Arcade town councilman died in a tractor trailer accident last Thursday on State Route 417 in Carrollton. Barry R. Ashworth, 51, was pronounced dead after his rig went into a ditch. Passerby were able to pull Ashworth from the truck and began CPR, but he was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Ashworth has just won re-election to the Arcade town board. State police did not say if the driver died from a traumatic injury of it the cause was medically related. The investigation continues.
