The app displays the local weather, 7-day weather forecast,
and radar. The Ready Steuben app includes emergency preparedness resources to
help you prepare for different kinds of emergencies. “Where am I” is a personal
locator, giving exact address/longitude/latitude, which you can use to share
your location with others. Setting up the “I’m OK” feature will allow you to
quickly communicate with family or friends if you ever find yourself in an
emergency situation.
The Damage Report form allows you to submit a report damage
to the Office of Emergency Services along with photos. Use the Emergency Kit to
help you keep track of the items you will need when an emergency happens,
including adding personal items to your checklist.
“We have created the Ready Steuben app as an innovative
solution in today’s smartphone world,” said Tim Marshall, director of Emergency
Services for Steuben County. “Please take a moment to download and then share
it with your contacts, using the Settings feature. This will help us prepare our
community before the next emergency. Also through the app’s Settings feature,
please give the new app a 5-star rating to help extend the reach of the app.”
The Ready Steuben app was created by MyEMAapp.com, a
division of OCV, LLC, which specializes in mobile app development for public
safety and emergency preparedness. “Mobile apps offer organizations a better
way to connect with the public – wherever they are, and whether or not they
have power,” said Suzy Keenan, communications strategist with OCV, LLC which
has developed nearly 200 custom mobile apps. “Mobile apps are the trend for
sharing of important information in the U.S., where nearly 80% of adults own
smartphones.”
Download the Ready Steuben mobile app onto your smartphone
or tablet. It is available free of charge from the iPhone and Google Play
(Android) app stores.
