Olean man pleads not guilty to murdering his wife

The Olean man accused of killing his wife May 13th pleaded not guilty Monday to an indictment that charges him with murder, manslaughter and other counts. Edward Smith, 50, entered his plea in Cattaraugus County court. Smith allegedly stabbed his wife Kathy to death in their apartment at the Olean House, 132 North Union Street. The matter was adjourned so attorneys could file motions.
