In what seems to be a developing trend, another vehicle slammed into a Wellsville business Thursday afternoon. This time, the target was Giant Food Mart on Park Avenue. The initial report to first responders was that a fryer exploded at the deli, but that quickly changed as more 911 calls poured in. Turns out, an SUV jumped the curb and sidewalk and rammed the building. Fire, EMS, Rescue and police all zipped to the scene. The female driver didn't suffer significant injuries. However, the impact did compromise the integrity of the gas service. An emergency call was placed to National Fuel Gas and the store was emptied as a precaution. Unconfirmed reports say the driver was taken into custody by Wellsville police. Emergency Services remained on scene for about an hour. Additional details pending.
By 7:30 p.m., the store re-opened, but the deli area was closed.
