BATH -- The Steuben County Community Opioid & Substance Abuse Forum is set for 5:30-7:30 p.m. May 23 in the Hornell High School Auditorium. County officials say the need for information, prevention and rehabilitation has reached urgent proportions, with a recent report from the Monroe County Medical Examiner indicating deaths related to opioid abuse from 2011-2016 account range from 44 percent to 84 percent of total deaths referred to the Monroe examiner. In 2016, sixteen deaths, out of a total of 19 deaths, were attributed to opioid abuse:
The county forum will feature a panel of county officials, physicians and related agency representatives with information designed to assist addicts and their families locate services. The event will include an information table on existing services, open at 5:30 p.m., with information sharing, personal stories, and a panel discussion set for 6-7:30 p.m.
