WELLSVILLE – Laurence E. Morris, Jr., 61, passed away Monday
(May 22, 2017) at Wellsville Manor Care Center following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Morris was born on April 1, 1956 in Wellsville to
Laurence E. “Bud” and Dolores (Osmin) Morris, Sr. He was a 1976 graduate of
Wellsville Central School.
Larry worked for many years in maintenance for Alfred State
College at the Wellsville campus and later as a laborer for Baldwin Forest
Products in Bolivar.
Larry is survived by three sisters, Connie Shuttleworth of
Corning, Bonnie (Charlie) Baldwin and Roxanne Baldwin, both of Wellsville; and
several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two infant
twin sons, Gary Morris and Jerry Morris; one sister, Ramona Robbins; and one
brother, Duane Morris.
Larry’s life was greatly complicated by his long struggle
with Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy. Though limiting in many ways, it didn’t
affect his ability to love on his nieces and nephews. One of his favorite
pastimes was to tease them, his way of showing how much he cared. Larry also
enjoyed doing word search puzzles and in his younger years, he was an avid
bowler.
There will be a time of visitation on Thursday from 2-4 p.m.
and 6-8 p.m. at the Baker-Swan Funeral Home, 3256 Riverside Drive in
Wellsville. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the
funeral home with Rev. Carl Kemp of the Knights Creek Evangelical Methodist Church in Scio,
officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Wellsville. Online
condolences may be offered at www.baker-swan.com.
Memorial contributions in Larry’s name may be made to the
David A. Howe Public Library, 155 N. Main St., Wellsville, NY 14895.
