Travel Advisory - Bridge Painting throughout Southern Tier

SOUTHERN TIER BRIDGE PAINTING
ALLEGANY, CHEMUNG AND STEUBEN COUNTIES
The New York State Department of Transportation today announced that PCI International, Inc. of Tonawanda, New York will begin region-wide bridge painting work on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 on various State routes in the Towns of Avoca, Amity, Fremont, Horseheads, Howard, Lindley and Van Etten. The duration of this work is expected to last approximately 5 months, with work anticipated to be completed October 31, 2017.
The scope of work for this project will consist of steel bridge painting. Impacts to motorists will be minimal while this work is taking place, with traffic being maintained by lane closures in one lane. It is imperative that motorists remember to drive carefully through the many highway and bridge construction zones that they will encounter this season.
Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone.  In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
