On May 18th, 2017, the ACCORD Allegany Business Center celebrated the graduation of ten individuals from the New York State Entrepreneurial Assistance Program’s small business training course. The business training course runs twice a year in the fall and spring for ten weeks each, totaling 60 hours of training.
During the ceremony and reception, class members were able to get together and discuss their shared experiences, offer advice/assistance, and further build their professional relationships, expanding their networks. Of the six members that were able to attend, each was presented with a personalized congratulatory certificate from Senator Cathy Young and a Certificate of Completion from ACCORD and the NYS Entrepreneurial Assistance Program. Refreshments were provided, including excellent gluten-free cupcakes from program-graduate Kristylee Davis, who recently started her in-home bakery, Holycakes!
Additional businesses that were started include Truck and Equipment Resources by Edwin Horning, a mechanic firm dedicated to servicing heavy equipment and machinery; Faith Community Nursing Services by JoAnne Gant, a nursing service that provides traditional, holistic, and faith-based healing assistance; and Alma Enterprises of WNY by Nora Wilson-Wheeler, a service that creates beautiful canvas paintings from digital photographs. The program also assisted two existing business to improve their offerings and operations: J&C Retro Games operated by Jason Wells, a firm that sells video games and systems from every era of the industry; and American Pest Control by Mike Zimmer, a licensed pest control firm that works with commercial and residential properties.
