During the ceremony and reception, class members were able
to get together and discuss their shared experiences, offer advice/assistance,
and further build their professional relationships, expanding their networks.
Of the six members that were able to attend, each was presented with a
personalized congratulatory certificate from Senator Cathy Young and a Certificate
of Completion from ACCORD and the NYS Entrepreneurial Assistance Program.
Refreshments were provided, including excellent gluten-free cupcakes from
program-graduate Kristylee Davis, who recently started her in-home bakery, Holycakes!
Additional businesses that were started include Truck and Equipment Resources by Edwin
Horning, a mechanic firm dedicated to servicing heavy equipment and machinery; Faith Community Nursing Services by
JoAnne Gant, a nursing service that provides traditional, holistic, and
faith-based healing assistance; and Alma Enterprises
of WNY by Nora Wilson-Wheeler, a service that creates beautiful canvas
paintings from digital photographs. The program also assisted two existing
business to improve their offerings and operations: J&C Retro Games operated by Jason Wells, a firm that sells
video games and systems from every era of the industry; and American Pest Control by Mike Zimmer, a
licensed pest control firm that works with commercial and residential
properties.
