Paving and repair work to begin next week on I-86 in Allegany County

The New York State Department of Transportation today announced that maintenance paving work will begin on Interstate 86 on Monday, June 5, 2017, weather permitting.  The project will extend from Exit 29 in Friendship to Exit 30 in Belvidere, for a total of approximately 6.1 miles.  Maintenance paving work will also be done on all 4 ramps at Exit 29 in Friendship and all 4 ramps at Exit 30 in Belvidere.  Shoulder work will also take place from Exit 29 in Friendship to Exit 28 in Cuba.  The scope of this project includes work within the limits of the towns of Cuba, Friendship, & Amity in Allegany County.
Motorists will encounter flaggers, lane closures and could experience travel delays.  It is imperative that motorists remember to drive carefully through the many highway and bridge construction zones they will encounter this season.
Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone.  In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.
