Interstate 86
Towns of Howard and Avoca

The New York State Department of Transportation today
announced that asphalt pavement overlay work will begin on Interstate 86 on
Wednesday, May 10, 2017, weather permitting.
The scope of this project includes the towns of Howard and Avoca in
Steuben County. The project will extend
from Exit 35 in Howard to Exit 36 at the Interstate 390 interchange, for a
total of approximately 7.1 miles. While
paving is underway, one lane of traffic will be maintained. Motorists will be required to obey posted
speed limits.
Asphalt pavement overlay work will also be done on state
Route 962B in Howard, as well as ramps at both exits. While paving is underway, traffic will be
maintained with a one-lane, two-way traffic pattern controlled by flag
persons. Motorists can expect moderate
delays and are urged to consider alternate routes during this time frame.
