Steuben: Child badly hurt, man arrested

New York State Troopers from the Bath barracks announce the arrest of an Elmira man stemming from an investigation conducted with Steuben County Child Protective Services.  Steffan J. Miller, age 29, of Home Street in Elmira, New York, was arrested on 02/16/17 for Assault in the 2nd degree and Reckless Endangerment in the 1st degree (class “D” felonies), Tampering with Physical Evidence (class “E” felony), and Endangering the Welfare of a Child (class “A” misdemeanor).  Troopers allege that, on or about 11/17/2016, Miller intentionally caused physical injury to a child less than seven years old and tampered with evidence in an attempt to conceal his acts while at the child’s residence in the Town of Bath.  Miller was arraigned before Town of Bath Justice Chauncey Watches and remanded to the Steuben County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 property bond.  He is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Bath Court on 02/22/17 at 3:00 p.m.
