BOLIVAR — Marian A. Murphy, 90, a former resident of 567 S. Main St., passed away Tuesday (Jan. 17, 2017) at Highland Healthcare Center in Wellsville following a brief illness.
Born in Bolivar on May 29, 1926, Marian was the daughter of
Harry and Mary Whitzer Bush. She married Robert Murphy on Aug. 21, 1948, in
Bolivar. Mr. Murphy preceded her in death on April 15, 2005.
Marian was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Bolivar, and a
member of the Bolivar Home Bureau. Marian enjoyed crafting, quilting blankets,
crocheting and knitting. She also enjoyed making and sending homemade cards to
family and friends.
Surviving are five children, Mary (Donald) Smith of Olean,
Paul Murphy of Ocean, N.J, Catherine (Brian) Moore of Barry’s Bay, Ontario, and
Nancy (Alan) Lewis and Jane (Jim) Biddle, both of Wellsville; 12 grandchildren,
Matthew Smith, Colleen Bump, Benjamin Smith, Jeremy Greene, Jamie Greene, April
Kuhn, Amy Miner, Elizabeth Owen, Nichole Austin, Danielle McGregor, Andrew
Biddle and Lauren Biddle; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Bush
and Donna Melville, both of Olean; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a
son, Andrew Murphy; three brothers, George Bush, William Bush and Harry Bush;
and three sisters, Josephine Bush, Virginia Laganegro and Mary Lou Haught.
There will be no prior visitation. A Memorial Mass of
Christian burial will be celebrated at a date to be announced at St. Mary’s
Church, Bolivar. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bolivar.
